In 2004, Mr. Charles "Duke" Runnels founded FORT Properties, Inc., a company specializing in fractional ownership offerings within the real estate industry. Mr. Runnels is President and Chief Executive Officer of FORT Properties, Inc. and chairs its Investment Committee. Prior to founding FORT Properties, Mr. Runnels spent four years with CB Richard Ellis Investors, where the team structured and implemented a packaged real estate investment product known as the "1031FORT." In less than 12 months, the team successfully closed $86 million in fractional ownership transactions in five states with 33 individual investors.
Mr. Runnels also has 16 years of real estate development and disposition experience with Oxford Properties, Inc. where he last held the position of Senior Vice President and was responsible for all business activities in the United States.
Now, with more than 26 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Mr. Runnels has been active in all phases of the investment process including raising equity capital, mortgage origination and structuring, joint venture structuring, project development, leasing and dispositions. To date, Mr. Runnels has been involved in completing more than $3 billion in real estate transactions.
Mr. Runnels serves on the 1031 sub-committee for the Investment Program Association (IPA) and is a member of International Counsel of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is a frequent speaker on Section 1031 fractionalized ownership and has most recently participated in the Credit Net Lease Forum in New York City, the USC Crocker Symposium in Los Angeles, the Build to Suit Forum of National Association of Industrial & Office Properties (NAIOP), the CBRE Private Client Group Conference in New Orleans, the CBRE Institutional Client Forum in New Orleans and the CBRE World Conference in Las Vegas.
